EXSP Presents A Performance Enhancing Lifestyle

February 13th at 7:00 p.m. | Lower Dauphin High School Library

Working together, Dr. Bixler and Coach Brix will be discussing important lifestyle habits (i.e.: nutrition, sleep, recovery, decreasing inflammation, exercise, injury and more) to optimize gains made in the gym or on the court.

Much is written about performance and training in sports, but the role of recovery from that training is often left under appreciated or ignored altogether. Proper recovery can have a profound effect on both sports performance and injury prevention. For example, training stimulates the body’s inflammation process. The preferred response is that the body deals with the inflammation, recovers, and then super compensates pre-paring the body for more vigorous training. The goal is to lower the body’s baseline inflammation and assist in the inflammation recovery process. Proper application of the 4 pillars of health (nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management) will allow an athlete to optimize recovery and realize performance and injury prevention goals.
