Dominance
In sports we hear the word dominance when one team imposes its will on another. Every aspect of the game they win from time of possession, score and every other statistic category. Very few teams can ever achieve this in a game; but two teams from the same school have done this very thing for years. The men and women’s soccer team at Messiah College have won 4 National Championships in the past 5 years. The Women have compiled a record during that time of 120 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie, which is incredible. That is not an easy feat to accomplish; but these two teams have dominated their opponents every year over the past 5 years. The reason they continue to win year after year is how they train.
Explosive Sports Performance has had the opportunity to work with these two teams over the past 5 years, watching as they win game after game. It does not amaze me that they do so well and crush their opponents. The coaching staff is one of the best in all of College sports at any level and the athletes’ attitude reflects that. They play with passion, dedication to the team, heart and they utilize their gift of hard work. Over my course of working with athletes and teams for the past 10 years I have never worked with a group of athletes that work as hard, who are self motivated and who want and expect to win every game they play. These are the reasons why this tiny private school wins National Championships in soccer year in and year out. They train hard, with a passion to win every time they step on the field. They have no physical differences from anyone else they play. They just possess something more. A belief and a work ethic that at the end of the game they will come out on top, no matter what the situation is. Few teams’ posses that and even fewer can remain on top over a stretch of years with new players changing each year. If you are an athlete or coach and you want to see dominance then look no further then the Messiah Men and Women’s soccer team. An example of greatness because of the time they dedicate to be great.
