The hamstrings beside your glutes may be the most neglected muscles when training. We focus on our Quads and Calves when we work our legs but we really do not do much for our hamstrings. We might do some leg curls here and there but for the most part we neglect them to a point that we are doing a great disservice to our body.
The hamstrings are so important in athletes! They act as the break to our body when we want to change direction. If that muscle is underdeveloped or weak then we leave our body open to injury when we play a sport. Changing direction is so vital in athletics yet most trainers, coaches, athletes rarely focus on that area. Most are so concerned with speed and acceleration and do not train deceleration.
