What does it take to be the best?  Look at the two teams playing in the National championship game, Kentucky and Kansas.  Two very explosive teams that get up and down and use their athletic ability.  What makes a team or person the best?  How well they prepare off the court or field.  Strength and Conditioning has become a major part of teams and individuals workout routines.   If you do not have a workout routine you will not be the best or be at the top of your game.

Preparing to be great is something we could all do but many miss the boat.  Watching good high school athletes only doing what people expect of them frustrates me more and more.  Why?  Because athletes of today have so many more options than 10 or 20 years ago.  They can become more explosive, stronger, faster, quicker and all around better athletes because of sports performance coaches and programs. The disappointing thing is that most kids do not take advantage of the opportunity that is right in front of them.   Just working with your team is not enough anymore, you have to be trained on the fundamentals of movement in order to be successful.  Being prepared is what allows Kentucky and Kansas to play for a National title.  Ask yourself if you are doing everything you can do in order to become great?  If not, then you need to do something about it, because your competition is taking that next step in their training.
